It's been absolute ages!

I thought it was about time that I resurfaced in the land of LJ. Don't take me wrong, I've been lurking something serious, reading fanfiction mostly XD, but I've only commented really sparingly. Which kind of makes me feel bad. Also, I'm in a communicating kind of mood :)
So, update time... Yesterday I handed in the research paper for my Bachelor's. I'm kind of nervous about it, but on the other hand I have a kind of good feeling about this paper. Other than that Uni usually kind of sucks, but what can you do *shrugs*
In other news, I've recently watched due South seasons 3 and 4. I used to watch it all the time as a child. I loved it! Even though I can't even remember which seasons I watched. It's such a brilliant show x3 I'm so happy I found it again.
And so I've been reading bunches of dS FFs. Also lovely :) And now I kind of really want to write something myself...only I never have any ideas XD Ah well.
Right. I'll stop now. Gotta go sleep.

Date: 2008-11-11 07:12 am (UTC)Yep, Bachelor...now I just need to finally pass this one big exam and then I'm really finished with it XD
Well, there's even a few classes (two) that don't suck, but sadly, the ratio of sucky to not sucky is not balanced XD But it's okay, I guess...I'll get through this semester as well XD
Hey, weren't you writing a Fachbereichsarbeit at some point? Wow...that must've been a long time ago, right? XD So how's life treating you?

Date: 2008-11-11 03:54 pm (UTC)Totally had you filed away as... I dunno. Not close to Bachelor, anyway. Random student, I guess. *g* My memory generally sucks, though, so never mind. Won't do your Master then? :-)
Oh yes, I was. About half a year ago. No wait, I was finished then. In January XD It's been AGES! Srsly. You back for good now? :-)
Life's... fine, I guess. I do journalism now, it's kind of cool. Some of the people are really nice, and lovely, and everything. <3 Studying is a lot of work! Darn the modules! But other than that, it's fine. I just posted pics of my apartment, if you're curious.^^

Date: 2008-11-12 09:37 am (UTC)Say, do you know due South? In German it's called Ein Mountie in Chicago.
Ah yes, good old memory XD
I'm actually continuing with my Master...but I'm getting really, really impatient with Uni. But you know, the change from just Magister to Bachelor/Master is still pretty recent, so a Bachelor in Austria doesn't really mean anything XD
Man, it really has been ages! I'm going to at least try to be back for good XD Only problem is that I never quite know what to write and I don't want to be whining about Uni constantly, you know? XD
Journalism. Awesome. Do a lot of people study journalism? Because here it's one of the overrun type things. I'm glad you like it and the people are nice! That's always a plus XD But yes, I wouldn't mind a lot less work either ;)
Oooh...pictures! *curious* *runs off to look*

Date: 2008-11-12 12:51 pm (UTC)Nope, I've heard of it though. Not in German, but fandom wise, you sort of stumble upon the name... no idea what the series is about, though!
Yeah, I know that. I've got to do my MA as well because honestly, most people (out there in RL where they'll hire you or not) will tell you that yes, it's nice you applied, but we want people with a decent degree. X____X So much for international stuff...
Totally :D Whining's fine, by the way, it's not like I ever did anything else. *g*
Mmm, lots of people study Communication Science, Publizistik, or anything that says "something with media stuff". There's only two courses of studies in Germany that actually are Jounalism, and give you a decent, let's say, knowledge. Many people overestimate the fact that usually, Communication Science is NOT "journalism, we'll write and paint happy bees", but is in fact a science. It does have something to do with journalism, but well. :D At least we've got courses in writing.
*coughs* What do you study again? My memory is terrible.

Date: 2008-11-12 09:27 pm (UTC)Oh man, it's really great! See, there's this Mountie, who came to Chicago on the trail of his father's killers and, for reasons that don't need exploring at this juncture, he's remained, attached as a liason at the Canadian Consulate (and that's pretty much a direct quote out of at least almost every episode XD).
So the Mountie, Benton Fraser, works with Detective Ray Vecchio of the Chicago Police Department. And they solve cases. Often in a crazy and bizarre way. For two seasons. And after that it gets a bit more bizarre, because...well, should I spoiler you? Yes, I think I will XD Because: Ray Vecchio goes undercover with the mob and, so nobody notices that in RL Ray Vecchio is suddenly and inexplicably gone, another detective (Ray Kowalski) goes undercover as Ray Vecchio. And just so it's more fun, they don't look anything alike XD And then the Mountie and the fake Ray Vecchio continue to solve cases and, in the fake Ray Vecchio's case, have their lives endangered in wildly bizarre ways by Mounties.
...Hm...well. You've brought it upon yourself. You asked XD
Oh yes, I guess in 10 years+ a Bachelor might start to mean something even here XD
Oh alright. So Publizistik =/= Journalism. Let me tell you, journalism sounds much more fun than Communication Science. It has the word "science" right out there in the open! *aghast*
lol I study Japanese Studies, Japanologie. Probably even a Master won't help me with that XD

Date: 2008-11-14 07:05 pm (UTC)Yes, I did ask. Maybe I'll get to watch one of the eps in the near future. :D
Who knows. Maybe they'll change it all again. Then everyone will have diplomas, but surprise surprise, not the few thousands that did a BA! Oh, I love politics.
*laughs* Yes, well, there's about 160 Studiengänge in Germany alone that kind of sound alike but actually aren't. Here we do Communication Science, Politics, Social Studies, a few writing courses, layouting, and then a special focus thing that we can choose. It's a little bit of everything, really. :-) Yes, science does sound very evil! :D
Oh, brilliant!! :D You know I lived in Japan, right? So what are you planning to do afterwards? :D

Date: 2008-11-21 02:20 pm (UTC)Ahahaha! That would be the most perfect move ever! The way the world is crazy, who knows, it might just really happen XD
Okay, wow. That does not sound like something I would want to do (Politics *shudders* I would fail spectacularly).
You live in Japan?! Why didn't I know that? (Or did I? XD) Where did you live? For how long? How come? Do you speak Japanese? *is a dead cat*
Ahahahaha! What am I going to do afterwards? I haven't the foggiest! I was thinking about maybe becoming a teacher...German language or English or whatever...you know, in Japan. Or maybe even Japanese right here in Austria. Buuuuut...I dunno. But yeah, lately I'm always thinking: Hm...teacher. Or maybe, you know, a police officer after all! *shakes head* Those are the jobs I've been thinking about on and off since kindergarten. Well, and author...of mystery novels XD
And man, sorry for replying so late *headdesk*
